For immediate release (North Adams, MA) The Porches Inn at MASS MoCA is offering several packages highlighting the monumental Sol LeWitt Wall Drawing retrospective at the Massachusetts Museum of Contemporary Art, the US’s largest contemporary art museum. Travelers enjoy a refreshing antidote to the winter doldrums while enjoying the Berkshires’ natural beauty and year-round arts offerings. Loco for LeWitt Weekend
Carless NYC-based travelers will enjoy the Loco for LeWitt Weekend and the fact that they don’t need a car to get to the Berkshire mountains! The package includes round-trip travel from Grand Central Station to The Porches Inn at MASS MoCA, where guests will be among the first to see MASS MoCA’s new Sol LeWitt installation (www.massmoca.org) over three weekends in December. North Adams is a small walkable city with many great restaurants and MASS MoCA offers performing arts events every weekend for night time entertainment as well. The guest (with or without a companion) takes the 4:38PM Metronorth train to Wassaic where MASS MoCA has arranged for a van to pick up travelers and bring them to walkable North Adams. Guests enjoy two nights deluxe accommodations at Porches, which includes the Inn’s healthful continental breakfast (whole-grain bread, cheese, hard-boiled eggs, fresh fruit, granola & other cereals, and more), along with two days of admission to MASS MoCA’s galleries including the 30,000 square foot Sol LeWitt Wall Drawing retrospective. The van will takes guests from Porches to Wassaic, where they embark on the 4:24PM train back to Grand Central Station. The price is $450 (inclusive) based on double occupancy (single rate: $375). The reservation must be made 7 business days prior to travel so that Porches’ staff may mail the rail tickets; within 7 days, an additional $11.70 charge will be applied to the bill so that the tickets may be sent via overnight courier. Primary Colors Package
For those who wish to spend a getaway steeped in the creative process, Porches’ provides all the basics in its Primary Colors package. The package features tickets to MASS MoCA (for a little inspiration) and a painting kit for two inspired by Sol LeWitt’s wall drawings (2 small canvases, 2 paintbrushes, 2 pencils, 1 protractor, 1 red, 1 yellow, 1 blue paint), along with deluxe overnight accommodations at the Inn including a healthful continental breakfast. Porches’ MASS MoCA package pairs the museum/hotel experience with dinner for two. The package includes 2 tickets to MASS MoCA, overnight accommodations and breakfast for two, and dinner for two at one of the area’s restaurants – guest’s choice. Available from $250 Sunday - Thursday; $299 Friday & Saturday (includes taxes & meal gratuity; based on availability/blackout dates apply).
Each package includes accommodations in a spacious room with a queen-sized bed, free WiFi, dual phone lines, and a DVD player. Packages can be upgraded to a suite for an additional $60 per night.
