If you’re headed to Porches from Boston, try the scenic Mohawk Trail (Route 2) for a drive on a classic auto road. Take some time for a few stops along the way for a picnic or a quick hike to a view. One of the best views of the Hoosac River Valley is at the Wigwam, just above the famous Hairpin Turn overlooking North Adams – where there is one of the most fun gift shops around, complete with westernwear, Elvis tchotchkes (why not?), and souvenirs galore! This is the place for all you “kids” who eat up travel nostalgia – if you’re like me, allow for extra browsing time and save room for the homemade fudge.
