This reprint of an article, The Legend of the Florida Mountain Turnip, by our friend Stanley Brown, sheds some light on a local practice: supplementing income with the sale of home-grown produce. The scenic Mohawk Trail provided extra traffic during the foliage season, perfectly coinciding with the fall harvest. Take it slow along our Berkshire byways and be on the lookout for farm stands along the side of the road. Berkshire Living Magazine published an article, Hi-Way Harvest, on this very subject recently – with a handy list of stands to visit. So, take a toolie, shop the Berkshire harvest and enjoy the scenery!
