Art Walk

Art has taken over North Adams again! Make sure you set aside enough time to explore the entire Down Street Art spread – it encompasses much of North Adams’ downtown area, from the storefronts to the mills. At Gallery 51, EVERYTHING IS OK, the first solo-exhibition for local artist, Sean Riley features painting, collage, sculpture and fabric works – most engrossing is a quilt of Riley’s deceased father’s work clothes, Carhartts and all. Click here for a map. One of my favorite places to shop for affordable art has a new show going on in conjunction with Down Street Art… The North Adams Artist Coop Gallery kicks off the new season with a juried show presented by members of NAACO featuring fine art and craft that is meant to “soar.” Some artists have interpreted the theme by creating three-dimensional creatures while others stuck with a two-dimensional medium to represent something airborne. This is a great place to find an affordable work of art for your own collection or even for a wedding gift – tis the season for weddings, after all!
