One of my favorite haunts in North Adams is the North Adams Artists Co-op Gallery. The NAACO Gallery s an independently member-run organization of 32 active and talented, primarily regional, artists exhibiting works in the fields of fine and applied arts. I’ve often found great gifts (jewelry, scarves) in addition to the excellent affordable art on sale. The gallery is presenting its first two-member exhibition, Shifting Perspectives, featuring the work of papermaker Cynthia Lewis and ceramic artist Linda Siska. Each artist delivers a body of new work that describes her current relationship with her respective medium. Cynthia Lewis’ “pulp paintings” are abstract interpretations of a particular aspect of the natural world and the current theme is “elemental” with titles expressing water, air, earth, fire, metal, wood light, sky, etc. Linda Siska’s ceramic work uses nature to visually enhance her vessels through the firing process.
