Hurricane Irene: Travel Updates in Northern Berkshire County

Things are safe and sound at Porches, but our thoughts are with our neighbors and friends in area communities that were impacted by Hurricane Irene. We wanted to inform those coming our way this weekend of road closures. Our beloved Mohawk Trail has experienced significant damage, as well areas in and around North Adams and Northern Berkshire & Franklin County and beyond.  If you are interested in learning more about the local relief effort, click here.

For those traveling in Massachusetts and points North/East: please check Mass Department of Transportation website for road closures and updates. They have also created a Google Map outlining these as well.

For those coming from New York and points West/South (outside of MA) please check New York’s 511NY website. In the map legend, make sure to click on Incidents/Closures as that will show places there is road damage or closures.

Route 2 between Williamstown and Albany is not open (it was a recommended alternate route in the directions below).

Directions from both Boston and NYC: Take 90 to exit 2 in Lee, MA. From there take Route 20 West. It will join with Route 7. Continue into Pittsfield and take a right onto Route 8 North. Follow Route 8 into North Adams. You will come over a bridge that is under construction. Continue until the 3rd stop light and take a left onto River Street. We will be on the right. (From NYC take 87 or the Taconic to get to 90.)

If you have any questions, please contact us at 413-664-0400.

Have a safe and fun Labor Day Weekend.
