Combo Platter

Chautauqua! happens at MASS MoCA on Saturday, April 9th. Consider this: a young, rabble-rousing theater group distills an historic intellectual gathering into a a sly exploration of the relationship between High Culture and the Mass Mind. These folks are eccentric and proud of it! The performance is a combination of lecture, debate, scientific demonstration and tales of explorers with more traditional forms of entertainment dance, dramatic recital, feats of strength, and joke telling. Sounds outrageous? It is. Don’t miss it – check out our Chautauqua special, complete with a chance to get $25 off your reservation!

Bollywood Brass

There’s nothing like a little Bollywood funk to warm your bones on a brisk January day!  Check out this dance party at MASS MoCA this coming Saturday: Bhangra Funk Dance Party with Red Baraat. Melding the infectious North Indian rhythm Bhangra with brass funk, Red Baraat is one of the most explosive and joyful live bands you will ever experience. Comprised of dhol (a double-sided, barrel-shaped North Indian drum slung over one shoulder), drumset, percussion, sousaphone, and 5 horns, this NYC-based group plays fresh originals and Bollywood classics with an unstoppable energy that whips audiences into an ecstatic frenzy everywhere they play. We still have rooms available this weekend!

Get Your Irish On

Bascom Lodge sits atop Mount Greylock – the lodge re-opened last year and offers great dinners and events. This Sunday, check out Rakish Paddy… The self-described “Irish-CeltGrass-GypsyJazz-FolkRock kinda thing (take a listen here!)” – sounds like a raucous time not to be missed!  The September 26th concert takes place on the lawn from 5-6PM (rain brings the concert indoors), followed by a prix fixe dinner at 7PM (Reservations required for dinner: please call 413-743-1591). This concert is free and open to all – the foliage is definitely turning, so get there early for a jaunt in the woods and soak up the spectacular views!
