Niagara Falls at Williams College

When making your plans to visit MASS MoCA and the Clark, don’t forget to include the Williams College Museum of Art in the mix! Check out A Strong Impression: William Morris Hunt’s Niagara before it closes at the end of next month. The exhibition examines both the artistic and cultural context in which the picture was produced through paintings, drawings, photographs, films, rare books, and souvenirs. Get a glimpse of the process this artist employed to interpret one of the most popular tourist attractions in the country.

Indie Shopping

The holidays will be here before we know it. If you’re looking for a unique gift made in New England, check out these two options… Berkshire Grown has organized a Holiday Marketplace featuring products from local farms including jams and pickles – why not give the gift of the harvest preserved for enjoyment during winter months? The event takes place in Williamstown at the Williams College Field House on Latham Street from 10 am – 2 pm  on November 21st. Meanwhile, our friends at MASS MoCA are organizing MASS MoCA Marketplace: A Collection of Contemporary Crafts for November 21-22 - the marketplace will be open 11 – 5 both days – there will be about 40 vendors and lots of variety for great gift ideas!

Only $45?!

It’s about a 45-minute drive from Tanglewood to our neck of the woods. The drive up Route 8 is beautiful, with views across placid lakes to Mount Greylock and plenty of rolling green hills to lose yourself in. If you’re heading to the Berkshires this summer, I suggest you consider this amazing deal… Tanglewood and the Clark Art Institute have partnered on a $45 package that includes two Tanglewood lawn tickets and two admissions to the Clark. To hear a sublime classical concert and visit a great museum for just $22.50 per person?! Super! Treat yourself to an extended weekend that you finish off in the Berkshires: Start with a Sunday afternoon concert at Tanglewood with a huge, decadent picnic; head north to take advantage of Porches’ thriftier Sunday night rate (and fabulous digs!); then head to the Clark the next day… Check out this link for more details on the Tanglewood/Clark package…
